7 Reminders for a New Christian

This post is dedicated to the new vibrant Christ follower and for the weary Christian who needs some reminders. Be encouraged o’ sweet soul. Pursue His Word and the Holy Spirit that makes it come alive.

1. God loves you

John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

2. You will not regret living out your youth for God

Ecclesiastes 12:1 – Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come  and the years approach when you will say, “I find no pleasure in them”—

3. Love God and love your neighbor

Mark 12:30-31 – And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Micah 6:2 – He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

4. Stop stressing, pray instead

Philippians 4:6-8 – Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God,which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

5. Forgive yourself and let go of your past

2 Corinthians 5:17 –  Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

6. You need a community to walk this life out with

Hebrews 12:1 – Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,

7. Heaven is going to be bigger than we can imagine

Revelation 7:9-10 – After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”
